So last night we had a last minute date night (Thanks to 'MAMA':)
I decided to Kris out for seafood, knowing full well that I DON'T eat seafood, I thought it would be a treat for him. So we went to http://www.sandcrabcafe.com/ which looks like a fun interactive place! Now don't get me wrong, this was my idea and we actually had lots of fun and the environment was fun and certainly not our usual date night pick(Black Angus). BUT I just couldn't believe what I was seeing when they dumped the bucket of sea animals on our butcher paper lines table! So I think I have figured out my problem: If every time I went to take a bite of a chicken breast and it looked JUST like a live chicken-I couldn't eat it! If every time I went to take a bite of beef and it looked just like a live cow-I couldn't eat it! If every time I went to take a bit of bacon and it looked just like a live pig- You get the point! So here is the thing about seafood it looks the same alive as it does dead! Now let me give you an example:there were still eyeballs on the shrimp and crawfish! I was even afraid to touch some of the stuff, I jumped as if it was still alive! Now speaking of crawfish, as you all have read in a previous post we just got a crawdad as a pet. Crawfish=Crawdad. I don't think I could ever eat any of my 'pets'. We also have a crab in a tank as a pet and of course there were plenty of crabs to eat from the bucket too! Now I have thought this through, such as what if we were involved in a 4H program and raised animals to be slaughtered....NOPE still couldn't do it... Kris has always said that I should be a vegetarian because often times I make the statement that " this tastes to chickeny or beefy".So what have I learned? I have learned that I am grateful that the pig, chicken and cow I will continue to eat doesn't look like a live one!
Since the evening was about Kris, we headed to guitar center next! Kris plays the guitar but he is a lefty and it is difficult to find lefty guitars. So when he goes to guitar center he can't just pick up any guitar and start playing. Although last night he was thrilled to see 2 lefties and he enjoyed himself playing with a couple new guitars! He also mentioned that he wants a cajone....but neither of us have the skill or the rhythm to play it! Maybe I will sneak it under the Christmas tree this next year for him!
After guitar center we stop at cold stone for a 'founder's favorite'. I ALWAYS think to myself that I will get another flavor but I always go back to the 'regular'. While we were there we ran into an old friend that we hadn't seen in about 10 years and were very encouraged to hear about the cool things that have been happening in his life. It must have been divine intervention, but we haven't' yet figured out the purpose!
We made it home by 8:58pm, just in the nick of time to watch LOST. Last night was confusing, well every week is more confusing than the previous to be honest. So is Ben the bad guy or is Charles the bad guy?
I now need to go pick up my little squirt at Mama and Papa's house. I miss him when he's not home. That's a good thing, right? I so enjoy my Eli, he makes my heart leap:)

ahhhhhhh; I couldn't eat it either! AND last night I was freaking out during Lost and kept yelling at the TV. Who to trust?! So confused!
ReplyDeleteSounds like so much fun. I love date nights and wish there were more of them! I am not too into seafood, but I haven't tried it much either. I totally have the too chickeny thing though and I am not a huge fan of beef either. Being a vegetarian would be a big commitment though!
